Kids will enjoy the art of 'collecting' the colours with you - from rummaging through old National Geographic magazines to recycling envelopes and packaging, it's amazing what a great selection of materials can be found for next to nothing.
The 'doing' of it is great too - quite physical - to tear up or to cut with scissors? (a bit of both works well, I think)
And then, there's the art of 'placing' and 'rearrranging' before we glue each piece down in it's final position. This can be quite contemplative, a bit like doing a jigsaw puzzle :-)
So this is the process I used for the art activity below, a stunning, warm glowing sunset over Rio de Janeiro, featuring the world famous statue of Christ the Redeemer.
Kids of all ages can work from their imagination or from a photograph.
When your collage is finished, cut out the free silhouette (available to download below) and place it, preferably in the foreground on a 'rock' (dark torn paper)
Have fun, I'd love your feedback, Diane
