Some Festive Craft Ideas
Simple Sparkling Snowflakes Make a 6 pointed snowflake with pipe cleaners and thread beads onto each point Bend the pipe cleaner over at the end to stop the beads falling off! Add some thread and hang. Suitable for young children with adult supervision, just be careful of the sharp ends of the pipe cleaners |

Peg Doll Angels
Use traditional wooden pegs, doilies, scraps of fabric,
silver / gold card wings, wool hair, pipe cleaner halo,
felt tip face.
Older children can sew, younger ones use glue or selotape!

Salt Dough Window Decorations
Roll salt dough into sausages to form hearts & circles. Make patterns in the dough by pressing a biro or pencil into the dough. Make holes for threading. Paint with acrylic when dry - they last for years with a coat of varnish. I recommend the Kirstie Allsopp recipe

Wire, Tissue Paper and Beads
Thread beads (or buttons) onto wire and bend into a heart shape for an instant decoration!
Wet some torn tissue paper with watered down pva and wrap around a wire frame and add some glitter to make solid filled hearts.

Felt Tree Decorations
Felt, old clothes, ribbons, buttons, and a little bit of toy stuffing!
Handmade and unique.
More details on the blog page.

Origami Baubles
These lovely handmade decorations can be made with all sorts of papers. This example was made using a Christmas Carol music sheet.
More details, instructions and ideas on the blog page.

Decopatch Baubles
Decopatch is a great activity for children and adults alike.
We covered some cheap star shaped baubles with these lovely papers.
See the blog page for more info on decopatching.

Christmas Pegs
Wooden pegs are very cheap to buy and are great for pegging
up Christmas cards!
We decorated them with felt tips, paints, metallic pens, and fine liners.
This project kept my 6 year old entertained across several sessions, he loved doing them!

Button Canvas Mosaic
This stays up all year round, I made it for my other half a few Christmases back, after getting a hoard of beautiful buttons from a car boot sale!
I painted the red heart shape onto a square canvas and then used a good quality pva to attach the buttons.
I have also seen snowmen and christmas tree button mosaics which children would love to make.

Thumb Printing
This is a great activity for all ages.
See my Creative Christmas Countdown blog for
instructions.
Happy printing!

Tissue Paper and WIre
This Christmas star was made a while back - it comes out every year!
It's made in the same way as lanterns, by wrapping pva soaked tissue paper around the frame. Glitter and shiny stars give it some extra sparkle.

Pipe Cleaner Rings
My children LOVE making these flamboyant sparkly rings!
You'll just need 7 pipe cleaners.
Visit the pipe cleaner lady and watch you utube video for step by step instructions!

Printing!
This is such an instant and rewarding activity.
You can use polystyrene pizza bases or buy some sheets of polystyrene to print with.
Experiment printing on different types of paper - brown paper, sheet music for example.
I buy sheets online at GreatArt

Salt Dough
Another favourite in our family. We speed cook them in the microwave! Cutters are available cheaply in discount stores.
I use the Kirstie Allsopp Channel 4 salt dough recipe.
